Hollywood has epitomized the "Surfer Dude" with characters like Jeff Spicoli, who often spout adjectives like "awesome," "righteous," or "radical." Spicoli's outlook on life was, "All I need are some tasty waves, cool buzz, and I'm fine."
More than 20 years ago, that mindset seeped into a young generation who turned to SEX, DRUGS, AND ROCK & ROLL to deal with the challenges of life. Today we see that this mindset has only resulted in WASTED lives; of people always looking for something else to keep them high.
In history, there is only one person who has ever been really "radical," truly "righteous," or totally "awesome." That person is Jesus Christ. He radically opposed the religious views of his day. He lived a life free of sin; the righteous son. He was (and is) awesome in glory as he rose from the grave and revealed (and still reveals) himself to many witnesses.
He lives today, in Spirit and truth, in the hearts of those who love him. He longs to join you, to be with you. Jesus said, "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Whatever your life challenges or struggles are, God wants to help you, if you only let him. His mercies are new every day. They never cease or fail and don't lead to WASTED lives. If you've been living life YOUR WAY and it has only led you to where you are, then try God's way. Get to know Him through the Bible. Ask Him to enter your life. If you are willing to give your life to Him (that means all the junk, the mistakes, everything), you'll find true life, and a hope that never fails.
