February Update

Greetings on this beautiful day in March. The month of February was a great! We were busy with many things. Our Core Team did a few plunges (one-time outreaches) in downtown Annapolis. The plunges build our team up in that they help us get a feel for the needs within the city, as well as letting us see our God-given gifts put to action.

First, we took our team to the Lighthouse Homeless Shelter on West street. There, we made dinner for the homeless. It was a great time of seeing the different ways that people on our team serve. Some of us stayed in the kitchen, cooking all the food. Others were out with the people, talking and connecting; while some went back and forth, cooking and connecting.

Next, we helped with a food drop at the housing projects on Clay Street. We teamed up with Mariners Church to deliver hundreds of meals and personal-care items. While we met with people in their homes, we also prayed with them; finding out more of who they are and what their needs are.

For the most recent plunge, we decided to connect with the Mid-shipmen at the Naval Academy. They had a boxing tournament going on, so we joined in to see if we could build relationships with the "Mids." We also wanted to get a better idea of their culture and understand some of their "lingo."

We are excited to be planning our next plunge. We will be doing that this Sunday at our next Core Team meeting. We'll update you with that on the next blog.

On the personal side of things, our family is doing great. We had Terry's Dad, sister (Jennifer) and his other brother (Va'a) here for a short visit. Jennifer spent the day with the girls and spoiled the pants off them at the mall. Then the next day she spent it with just the boys, taking them to Toys R Us. It was a great time for all of them to bond. We also, had some quality time with Terry's Dad, but he had to leave after the conference to get back to Vegas for surgery. It went well and he will be going back to Samoa this week.

As for Terry and I, we are making sure that we keep our own quality time. We have been intentional about it, which is great and to top it off Terry will be turning 41 tomorrow. So, we plan on doing something small with the kiddos.

So, that about does it for this month. We hope that you all are doing well and we thank each of you for your support, prayers and love. We wouldn't be able to do any of this without YOU!

January Update...

January was a great month for us, we rang in the New Year in New Hampshire and had a blast! A dear family gave us this special gift to spend a week away with the family. We thoroughly loved it and the cold weather meant nothing to the kids. We took them tubing, which was a first for a couple of us, played in the snow and even walked on a pond of ice. It was GREAT!

We returned home, on January 11, Bay Area Community Church commissioned us (the Downtown Annapolis Church Plant). It was a very special time for all of us and more emotional that we expected. It's a wonderful feeling to have our Church behind us and supporting us. If you would like to view the service, please go to http://www.bayareacc.org/ click on webcast, then on the bottom, from there look for January 11, 2009 and enjoy the service. It will be one that remains in our hearts forever.

On January 18th at 10:00am we had our first official core team meeting. It was a great time for us to gather together on a Sunday morning and unite for this vision God has called us all to. During that time we got into the word and spoke of what was ahead of us. We have been meeting each Sunday morning and having a potluck lunch to get to know one another better. Our team is really beginning to come together and bond.

We also have met to discuss Life Groups and will begin those in February along with a plunge (a group event in the commutiny, that we will be joining.) We will fill you in next time about all of that.

Welcome
